The author, Mīr Taqī al-Dīn Muḥammad was the son of Šaraf al-Dīn cAlī Ḥusaynī Kāšānī, also known as Mīr Tadhkirah. He used the pen-name, Dhikrī. The complete book is arranged into four parts, a conclusion and an appendix in six volumes. It covers the biographies of about 650 poets from the earliest period of Persian literature to the author’s own time. The last part of the book provides biographical information about 385 poets who lived in the 16th century and hailed from various regions of Iran stretching from Khurāsān to Kāšān. The present volume is devoted to the poets of the city of Iṣfahān.
